Leeds set to shine in Milan
The City of Leeds is coming to town! From 13th to 17th October, the UK City of Leeds will stage a festival of commerce and culture in Milan. The ‘Leeds in Milan’ week will give local businesses and residents the opportunity to learn a little more about Leeds - one of the UK’s fastest growing and most dynamic cities.
Brought to Milan by ‘Marketing Leeds’, the British Consulate in Milan, UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) and the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy (BCCI), the week’s activities are designed to give a snapshot of business and culture in Leeds, and to promote the city as a key partner for business.
Throughout the week, a number of seminars, conferences and networking events will take place in Milan plus there will be performances by the Northern Ballet and Opera North. These events are designed to give business leaders and the people of Milan a chance to learn more about the opportunities that exist in the Leeds area and also, to give a flavour of the history and culture that the City of Leeds has to offer.
Highlights of the week include:
Tuesday 14th October - "Public Private Partnerships (PPP) - The Experience of two great cities Leeds and Milan". The seminar will give Financial service advisers - in private and public sectors - a UK perspective of how PPP has worked in practice. Start time 09.00 hrs at the Palazzo Affari ai Giureconsulti.
Tuesday 14th October - "Leeds: Regeneration by Partnership" seminar. The Seminar will focus on how Leeds has approached its regeneration, by using collaborative thinking and working in partnership across the public and private sectors. Start time 14.30 hrs at the Palazzo Affari ai Giureconsulti.
Wednesday 15th October – International Business Network event. An opportunity for companies to network and take part in pre-arranged meetings to develop business and trading relationships. Start time 11.00 hrs at the Palazzo Affari ai Giureconsulti. This event will be attended by Letizia Moratti, Mayor of Milan and Lord Digby Jones, British Minister for Trade and Investment.
Thursday 16th October – "Growing your Business: mergers expansions and associated issues" seminar, an opportunity for business leaders and lawyers to learn more about mergers and acquisitions. Start time 09.30 hrs at the Palazzo Affari ai Giureconsulti.
Also ‘Live from Leeds’: A cultural and entertaining evening from the Leeds based Opera North, Northern Ballet Theatre and the Anateresa Project. Start time 20.30 hrs at the Teatro dell'Arte (Triennale Palace).
