Foggy day

Scroll-down

Just when you think you have seen one foggy day...

Cold, damp, miserable and often very dangerous for those driving on the roads, as well as for those trying to cross them, the Milanese fog is beginning its annual decent on Milan, swallowing whole neighbourhoods and causing sheer traffic mayhem. It is not uncommon for fog to cause serious accidents on the autostradas, and so to combat this, the services of a “safety-car” are employed. This little car, with flashing orange lights, hits the highways when the fog gets too thick and sets the pace for the other drivers, ie very slow. But like of all of nature’s little annoyances (read: spiders, snakes, thunderstorms etc) heavy fog does have a plus side, as it provides the ideal conditions for exquisite mushrooms and truffles to grow. There is no doubt that those truffle farmers do a little dance of joy when the fog arrives; truffles can fetch more per kilo than gold!
