Hello Milano - English-language edition

Hello Milano is a publication created and managed by an Italian-British company specialising in international communications. Hello Milano is a monthly tabloid, practical to use and carry around. It is a favourite amongst the English-speaking people in Milan, both tourists and residents. 20,000 copies are printed and distributed to 350 locations every month.

Like this website, it has a full colour map of the city. There is a public transport map that makes it easier to use the trams and buses as well as the Metro. Fascinating articles on what the city has to offer. And of course, the unique day-to-day calendar of entertainment and events.

Hello Milano is the only widely-distributed publications to reach the English-speaking population - both tourists and residents. The influx of tourists is estimated at six million per year for Milan alone, while the number of English-speaking non-Italian residents in Lombardy is put at around 350,000.

The distribution of Hello Milano (see distribution points), run directly by the publisher, is efficient, rapid, and comprehensive in its coverage of the respective population. The main pick-up point categories are:
• hotels, from 3-stars up, in Milan
• APT and IAT tourist offices, information points at Linate and Malpensa airports, and in railway stations;
• major consulates and chambers of commerce;
• associations for people from abroad (Benvenuto Club, etc.);
• other locations frequented by non-Italian communities (British Council, USIS, Centre Culturel Français, Instituto Cervantes, Istituto Austriaco di Cultura, Deutsche Institute ...);
• schools of Italian for foreigners, other language schools, model agencies;
• advertisers;
• subscribers all over the world.

Distribution is closely monitored month by month, and the number of copies delivered to each pick-up point is adjusted according to the copies left over at the end of the month. The number of copies returned is in any case very low. Some hotels conserve copies of preceding editions in order to be able to supply visitors with information if they should run out of the current edition.

Editorial content
The front and back pages have feature articles by English-American authors who describe themes of Italian culture, cross-cultural themes, linguistic curiosities and more, with a humorous and easily readable approach.
Inside, the "What's On" section presents a calendar of entertainment and events, selected as being suitable for people who have a limited grasp of the Italian language. This section is in chronological order, for practicality.
The centre pages are taken up by the Milan city map.
There are sections for useful information, museums, exhibitions, nightlife, eating out and more.
The advertising spaces are dedicated considerable care, so that they attract the same attention as is given to the editorial text.

Hello Milano - Japanese edition - actually is suspended.

The Japanese edition of Hello Milano has been published as a separate newspaper since 2002. Previous to that date, Japanese editorial material was included in the English-language version.

Hello Lakes - actually is suspended.

Hello Lakes is a monthly tabloid with texts in English featuring the areas to the north of Milan - Varese, Como, Bergamo, Lecco, lakes Como and Maggiore. The first issue was published in April 2005. 10,000 copies printed and distributed to 130 locations in the lakes area as well as selected locations in Milan every month.

The lakes area is enormously important as a tourist destination, and it also has a thriving community of non-Italian residents. Hello Lakes therefore fills an important gap, providing information on the events, entertainment and social opportunities for the territory north of Milan.

Editorial content, technical details and advertising rates are the same as the English-language version of Hello Milano. The publication presently has 8 pages.

The main pick-up point categories for Hello Lakes - in the major tourist locations on the lakes, in nearby cities, and in Milan - are:
• hotels, from 3-star up
• APT and IAT tourist offices, information points at Linate and Malpensa airports, and in railway stations;
• major consulates and chambers of commerce;
• associations for people from abroad (Benvenuto Club, etc.);
• other locations frequented by non-Italian communities;
• schools of Italian for foreigners;
• advertisers;
• subscribers all over the world.
